Forum World Records. Sign In Sign Up. Page 1 of 2 1 2 Last Jump to page: Results 1 to 10 of This past month I completed my first PC build. There are a few issues I've been trying to iron out since it's completion but can't seem to figure them out on my own. SO, that bring us to this error message I keep getting upon start up I did some surfin' online and found that if you have the the CPU cooler hooked up incorrectly, this could cause that error message to appear.

Secondly I read that if you have an aftermarket cooler of any kind, the motherboard it looking to read a stock Intel cooler so the fan speed needs to be set in order to read properly? Something like that. That's where I'm stumped, if that's the case and I do need to set the fan speed, where do I go to do this? Again, bare with me as I'm a console peasant in the big men's league trying to ball with the best of 'em.

I'm struggling to even figure out the BIOS and this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a ton. Hello SavageBonez Welcome to the ROG forum and congratulations on your first build, it's a nice one indeed I have the maximus viii formula too! In the bios go to the monitoring tab and set the cpu fan speed to ignore, use the CAM software to monitor fan speeds. Be sure to install the Aura program to control the LED lights.

My lED's stay on after I shut my pc down too and to get them to turn off I think you have to enable Erp in the bios, this board is still fairly new to me and I'm not sure exactly where it's loacated in the bios but I've seen it in there.

I could go find it if you like. Hi Heini! Originally Posted by Heini.

An easy solution to turn off the LED's would be to just turn off the psu power switch after you shut it down. It doesn't bother me mine stay on all the time.

Please excuse the forum it's not you, it goes on the brink every evening at this time, I don't know why but it does. Something you could try with the LED's is the keybot II feature, I haven't used it but it might get your pc to start with the Erp s4-s5 power state.

You'll have to install the keybot II software to use it, here is a guide from Bahz. Page 1 of 2 1 2 Last Jump to page:. The screen is unusual, and on the bottom it says "CPU fan error! Things that I've tried : Now, I had this problem before, and my computer doesn't have a cmos switch, so I had to take out the battery for a couple minutes, and that worked.

Today I woke up to have the same problem. Only this time, when I took out the battery and put it back, the problem persisted. So I tried entering my system setup and set "CPU fan speed" to ignore, that still did nothing. So I'm aggravated, annoyed and helpless. Any help would be appreciated. Have you replaced the fan or heatsink recently?Reference your motherboard's manual for specific instructions. AMIBIOS beep codes are usually short, sound in quick succession, and usually sound immediately after powering on the computer. The beeping occurs because your computer can not boot far enough to show anything on the screen, meaning that some very standard troubleshooting won't be possible.

If you could boot a bit further, you might run a memory test but since you can't, you'll need to start by replacing the RAM. Two short beeps means there has been a parity error in base memory. Like all RAM problems, this isn't something you'll be able to fix yourself or get repaired. Replacing the RAM modules that cause the problem is almost always the fix.

Four short beeps means that the motherboard timer is not working properly but it could also mean that there's a problem with the RAM module that's in the lowest usually marked 0 slot. Start by reseating the RAM and then replacing it if that doesn't work. Next, assuming those ideas have failed, reseat any expansion cards and then replace any that seem to be the culprit. Five short beeps means there has been a processor error.

Start by reseating the CPU. If that doesn't work, try reseating any expansion cards. Chances are, however, the CPU needs replaced. This beep code is usually caused by an expansion card that has failed or a motherboard that is no longer working. You might also be dealing with a certain kind of keyboard glitch if you hear 6 short beeps.

See our How to Fix an A20 Error for some troubleshooting that help. If that doesn't work, reseat or replace any expansion cards. Lastly, you might be dealing with a failure severe enough that you'll need to replace your motherboard. Seven short beeps indicates a general exception error.

This beep code is usually caused by a faulty video card.

Replacing the video card usually clears this up but verify it's sitting properly in its expansion slot before buying a replacement. Sometimes this AMI beep code arises from just a loose card.

Literally, this would indicate an issue with the BIOS chip on the motherboard. Before you go that far, try clearing CMOS first. If you're lucky, that'll take care of the problem for free. A motherboard replacement will usually solve this problem, although it could be caused by a damaged expansion card in rare situations. Before you go replacing things, start by clearing CMOS and reseating all the expansion cards. Often times it's the motherboard. One long beep and two short beeps is usually an indication of a failure within the memory that's part of the video card.

Replacing the video card is almost always the route to go here, but try removing and reinstalling it first, just in case the only problem is that it has wiggled a bit loose. If you hear one long beep followed by two short ones, this is due to a failure above the 64 KB mark in the computer's system memory. There's little practicality in this test versus some of the earlier tests because the solution is the same—replace the RAM. Try reseating the video card and making sure any auxiliary power it needs is connected to the power supply.

BIOS & BMC Firmware and More

Replacing whatever faulty hardware is causing the problem is usually the fix for this beep code. Eight short beeps means that there has been an error with the display memory.During these challenging times, we guarantee we will work tirelessly to support you. Usually, this error pops up when your computer boots up. As long as your BIOS is properly configured, this error will cause your computer to automatically shut down unless specifically prompted to continue operating.

For most desktop computers, this is a simple task. Laptop owners should usually be dissuaded from this; many laptop models will automatically have a voided warranty if the case is opened by anyone other than a repair source chosen by the manufacturer.

Therefore, the step is probably for desktop owners, only. Though, if you own a laptop without warranty and are comfortable working with smaller parts, go right ahead!

Reputation: Hi no CPU fan error on boot. When I plug the hi fan pin into the cpu header I get a error on boot "no cpu fan detected". If I plug a case fan into the board header the error goes away not the board. I am looking for confirmation from anyone that is running a similar set up that they are also or are not getting this error.

Want to know if it is a common problem at this stage or just a problem with this hi unit. Latest bios on board. Why would a case fan be recognized as a fan but the hi not. Just looking if it is reproducible from someone else or I have a dud.

No worries mate I will not be disabling this error however to date my monitoring is via software. If you say this is not common with your 79 board it makes me think why would asus break that on their 87's. Now this lead from the pump does not work on three of the boards fan headers. You still never know, may be a firmware problem or may be a faulty fan lead from the pump.

Need to try something because I want my cpu cooling to be monitored by my board not this link software.
